1 – Opportunity

Kindship is a social networking app designed specifically for parents raising children with disabilities, delays, and neuro-diversity. The app aims to help parents and participants better understand and manage their NDIS funding in order to maximize its benefits. As the app grows, it will provide additional NDIS tools to assist parents in preparing for NDIS applications and reviews.

2 – Method

An in-depth interview was conducted with the Kindship product manager to gather insights and fill a product vision map. This helped to fully align with the stakeholder and reveal potential gaps in the product strategy.

To better understand the complexities of the NDIS, in-depth research was conducted on real-world experiences from influential media and podcasts covering participants' issues and the latest NDIS developments. Insights were also gathered from an NDIS support group, anonymizing all data and limiting interaction to protect individuals' privacy. By stepping into the journeys and sentiments of participants, their experiences with understanding and using NDIS were able to be mapped out."

3 – Outcome

The outcome of this process was the creation of product concepts and end-to-end digital experiences that began with customer research and ended with UI delivery. The stakeholder vision and NDIS landscape were clarified, and the experiences of carers and participants were understood. The key moments that mattered were identified and aligned with the business goals, and inspiration from other industries was used to generate ideas for solutions. Prototypes were tested with primary NDIS participants and related user groups, and design systems were built that incorporated brand elements such as tone of voice.
